Approach the scalp with a magnifying glass and you will realize that several hairs are born from a pore.
The FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) technique allows us to transplant hair just as it grows naturally, which is in groups of 2,3, or 4 hairs. These groups are also called
Group by group. This is how hair grows. Try it for yourself
The extraction itself consists of two steps, a circular incision around each and every follicular unit and then a soft pull removing the tissue from its sebaceous base. This
action must be repeated thousands of times in order to remove enough hair for a solid result.
The FUE technique consists of extracting the follicular units in a scattered manner, thus avoiding the typical linear scar of the traditional method.
This graft has 4 follicles.
The big advantage of this technique is that it leaves no linear scar and offers the shortest post-op recovery time. The disadvantage is that it yields less grafts compared to traditional FUT extraction. Proper patient selection is important for managing expectations.
It is important to note that some clinics offer follicle by follicle extraction which is more a marketing ploy than real medicine. In your donor area hair grows in groups and anyone suggesting the contrary could be using a “get 3 for the price of 1 sales pitch” when in reality 1 graft is the same as 2, 3 or 4 follicles. It all depends on how your individual hair grows and that can't be known without an in person consultation .
